The Great Depression is in full force and many people are out of work, however, Ella Barron is finding a way to survive, like her mother before her, running a boarding house. She has a routine that she does everyday that makes the life of herself and her autistic son Solomon, Solly, predictable. However, that changes when a new boarder enters her home to let a room, Mr. David Rainwater.
I really loved this story. Its super sweet and a good pick me up for a snowy day like today. It was really a good look at how autism was treated back then, seeing it didn't have a title until the 40's.
I don't want to give to much of the story away but I really would recommend this book to anyone that likes a story that might not always have a happy outcome but good things come out of it in the long run.
